This quote is very clear in its meaning, life is nothing more than an extravagant cigarette, there are no prizes, there are no bright lights, there are no bright colours. There is just your basic old fashioned tobacco that you have to inhale in order to get the slightest pleasure from it. If you do not inhale then you will not see the pleasure at all.

For this reason, many people say that smoking would be better if it were legalised; you could buy your own cigarettes and smoke them when you wanted to, instead of having to rely on people who don’t like you to give them to you. If this were the case then many problems would be solved.
